In Loving Memory of a life so beautifully lived and a heart so deeply loved.
Violet Maud Walker was born on April 28, 1931, in St. Ann’s Parish, Jamaica, West Indies, and lived in Content Gardens. She was born to Alice Maud Walker, “Mami,” a housewife, seamstress, and mother to 9 children, and Walter George Walker, “Papi,” a shipwright who built boats. She is preceded in death by her half-sister Myrtle Walker, and her siblings Josephine, Michael, Juslett, Gerald, Sylvia, Johnny, and Fedrona “Aunt Dotty. She has one remaining sister, Mavis Franczak, known to us as “Aunt Patsy.”
Mama worked as a seamstress and had seven children: Janet, Carol, Pansy, Terry, Valerie, Darcia, and Raymond. Mama Vie entered eternal rest on September 2, 2025, at the age of 94, surrounded by love and family in the comfort of her daughter, Terry Rowe’s, home.
Mama Vie lived a life marked by kindness, resilience, and grace. Those who knew her will remember her gentle spirit, her unwavering devotion to her family, and the warmth she extended to friends and neighbors alike. Her legacy is one of compassion, generosity, and a steadfast commitment to the people she cherished most.
She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, master gardener, seamstress, dog whisperer, caregiver, and friend. Ms. Vie’s nurturing heart and wisdom guided her family through life’s joys and challenges, leaving lasting memories and lessons that will endure for generations.
Mama Vie’s final days were spent in peace, embraced by the love and support of her family. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
May Violet “Mama Vie” Walker rest in eternal and everlasting peace. Heaven has gained an angel, and we have lost a treasure.
