Shirley M. Giles

Shirley Mae Giles, age 81, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2021. She was born on June 25, 1940 in Monroe, Georgia. She was born to the late Leona and Johnnie Lackey and was one of nine siblings. She married the late James Willie Giles and their union birthed three children. She worked as a shop steward and lead supervisor for Allied Foods, Inc. After 35 years of employment, she retired. After retirement she spent the rest of her life in church and enjoying her family. Shirley would say that her biggest accomplishment was “finding the Lord before he found her”.

She is survived by three children: Willie Giles, Carrie Pace, and Latashia Johnson. She was a beloved grandmother to Vincent Giles, Charles Pace, Kenyatta Battle, Jasmine Johnson, Armondoe Johnson Jr., Jacob Johnson and eight great grandchildren. She leaves to cherish an uncle, aunt, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be reunited with her siblings (Deceased): Willie Lackey, Johnnie Lackey, James Lackey, Billy Lackey, Norris Lackey, Harrison Lackey, Peggy Lackey, and Mac Arthur Lackey.
