On April 23, 1930, Daniel Wood and Sarah Fowler welcomed Roger Wood into the world in a small home in Decatur, Georgia. He was the youngest of 5 girls and 6 boys. Roger married young at the age of 19 years old to the late Patty Ruth Sellers. He had a total of 11 kids. Since Roger dedicated his life to Christ; he would always take the time to tell you the wonderful things that God has done. His famous words were “To be thankful and to be grateful. That’s the main thing and to live right while you have the chance.” Roger Wood did just that and more.
He loved his family unconditionally and always preached the word of God to his family and friends. Roger Wood was known all around Ellenwood as Papa Wood. Roger had a contagious smile and would not mind lending a helping hand. Roger was a self-made man and worked as a cement mason for many years until retirement.
Roger has raised and helped raise his many grandchildren. He was also known for biscuits and some tea. Roger was a very simple man. He really loved life and its simple pleasures. He enjoyed fishing and joyriding in his Galaxy Ford. God called Roger to his eternal home on December 27, 2022. Roger was loved by many and will be truly missed.
Roger was preceded in death by his children Tammy and Morris Wood and his wife Patty Ruth Wood.
He leaves behind his children Larry, Tommy, Harold, Murray, Connie, Blake, Blaine, Terrance, Torrance, Nathan, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, and friends.
