Robert Lee Jones was born on May 4, 1939, in
Starkville, Mississippi, to the late Collin Jones
and Samella Phillips (A.J.). God called our father
home on October 27, 2025, while he was surrounded by his daughters.
Bob was an avid golfer. He played in many tournaments, including twice in the world-
renowned “Bobby Jones Golf Tournament.” He also hosted his own golf tournament in
Charlotte, North Carolina, the “Queen City Golf Tournament” for many years. Bob also had a love for playing softball
and riding motorcycles.
Our father worked for the Ann Arbor, Michigan, Sheriff’s Department
for many years, rising to the rank of Corporal. He protected and served many lives.
Daddy also worked in construction and owned several of his own businesses.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his
wife and the mother of his five daughters, Emma
Jean Jones, and by his brother, A.J. Phillips Jr. (Jay).
He is survived by his loving daughters: Sandra
(Curtis), LaNett (Kenny), Lisa, Dawn, and Robin (Peter); seven
grandchildren: Dionne (Darren), Erica (Steve), Danielle (Kiandra),
Bobby (Juanita), Nicole, Porsche, and William; eight great-
grandchildren: Cedric (Alexis), Alexus, Tatiana, Kelce, Cameron,
Caitlyn, Sanii, and Stevee; and four great-great-grandchildren: Isaac,
Kaleb, Ava, and Karter — as well as a host of relatives and friends.
Our father will be missed and never forgotten.
WE LOVE YOU THE MOSTEST!
