Newton James Thomas known to many as "Lala" or "Laurel" was born on August 15, 1968 in Homestead St. Catherine, Jamaica to Rudolph and the late Rosealee Thomas. He was the sixth of sixteen children during his parents lifelong marriage. Newton attended Homestead All Age School.
Newton and his wife Tamelia met in August 2003 and were married in December 2010. The two were inseparable despite the challenges they endured during their years together. They maintained a loving relationship and enjoyed spending time with their children by taking family vacations or just simple bonding in their home watching movies.
Sadly on Friday, Decmeber 3, 2021, the Thomas Family lost their hero due to a stroke triggered by heart and lung complications. Newton was diagnosed with a chronic medical condition earlier this year. After his release from the hospital, he dealt with his illness with strength and grace. He was admired by many for his level of bravery.
Newton leaves a legacy of generosity. He would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need without a second thought. He was full of energy and loved to make people laugh. He had a lust for life and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His joviality and good nature attracted people the moment he walked into the room, and no one could forget his raucous and contagious laugh. His tireless love and devotion to his family were evident in his final moment.
Newton leaves to cherish his loving memory; his wife Tamelia; Children; Jada, Travis, Arianna and newborn Amarien; Step Children; Armani and AJ whom he raised since they were very young; Father; Rudolph; Siblings; Annie, Junior, Ricky, Patsy, Hopie, Ann, Gary, Rohan, Bubbla, Dahlia, Lisa, Rev, Jas, Marlene, Sandy, and a host of nieces and nephews, extended relatives and friends. All held him in the highest regards and loved him dearly.
