Mr. Larry Darnell Hood was born on January 11, 1959, to the parents of Lee Boria
Jones and Jodie Hood in Blytheville, Arkansas but grew up in South Bend, Indiana.
Larry was the oldest of eight siblings.
In the year of 1987, he married Rhea Hood to this union three children were born,
Kelsey, Kyle, and Kaylon.
He attended Franklin Elementary, Jefferson Middle School and later graduated from
John Adams High School . In high school he participated various sports from football,
track and field, and wrestling. He was inspired to continue his education, Larry
graduated from Atlanta Technical College with an Associate Degree in Network
Specialist.
He was employed with Atlanta Dairies for over 20 years. He started in the production of
the business and later advanced to Information Technology Manager. Larry later retired
after numerous positions.
Larry dedicated his life to Christ at the early age of 14 at Faith Baptist Church in South
Bend Indiana. Later he and Rhea joined Antioch Baptist Church North in 1991 under the
direction of Rev. Cameron M. Alexander.
He devoted time to helping people in the neighborhood, like cutting grass, repairing cars
and computers. He was known for grilling and his pound cakes. Larry was always busy
helping someone at home or work.
Our heavenly father released Larry on the morning of March 17, 2025, after battling a
lengthy illness.
He is survived by his lovely wife Rhea Lynne Hood of 37 years and three children
Kelsey (Keionna) of Dallas, Texas, Kyle and Kaylon of Ellenwood, Georgia, and a
granddaughter Genesis Hood of Dallas, Texas, mother Lee Boria Jones, father
preceded in death Calvin Thomas Sr., siblings: Antonio Patterson, Charles Thomas,
James (Tamekia) Jones, Calvin (Terrell) Thomas, Johnathan (Jennifer) Thomas, Janice
Skipper, Pamela (Michael) Tinsley, and a host of family and friends.
While his physical nature is no longer with us, his loving spirit will always stay with us.
