Garnett Maurice Hibbert also known as Gary or “Sasa” passed away Friday February
9th, 2024. Garnett was born September 5th,1965 in Jamaica, West Indies. Garnett was an
entrepreneur and owned his very own fish shop in Jamaica. Garnett was a leader and very
devoted to his work. Garnett was a simple man with a lot of courage and potential. He had a lot
of wisdom in which he was always willing to share with the world. Garnett came to New York
November 7th, 1980 where he attended Thomas Jefferson High School.
Garnett is survived by his parents Fay Blackwood and Trevor Blackwood. He is a brother to
eight siblings. His sisters; Joy Cotto, Sandra Hibbert and Dawn Hibbert. His brothers; Samuel
(Sanna), Valentino (Johny), Jefferey, Corey Hibbert and Martin Blackwood. Surviving with his
parents and siblings he also leaves behind his six children to mourn. His daughters; Shanea
Jones, Erica Gayle, Sasha Anderson and Jamelia Hibbert. His sons; Zavon Dominguez- Jackson
and Jamoy Hibbert. He also leaves his two grandchildren and his daughter in law. His
grandchildren Janiya Jones and Myla Jones and his daughter in law Amanda Dominguez-
Jackson. Garnett also left his aunts Pansy Gordon and Maree Thompson plus more aunts and
uncles, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. He was a great son, father, brother,
uncle, cousin, nephew and friend.
Garnett loved spending time with his children and speaking to them and his family whenever he
got the chance. He spent the last 10 years with his two loving twins Jamoy and Jamelia and he
loved and cherished them as well as all his other children. He will be deeply missed by his
family and friends who all knew him.
