Obituary

On Tuesday August 23rd, Edna Bartley, went to rest with family by her side in Atlanta, Georgia.

Edna was born on July 25, 1930, to Robert and Margaret Thompson in Newfield district of Manchester, Jamaica.

Her father was a carpenter and her mother was a homemaker and mother of 11, with Edna being their first child.

She attended Snowdon All-Age School and was an active member of Newport Seventh-Day-Adventist Church, where she met and married Daniel Bartley. Edna was a homemaker.

From this union, they had 6 children, four girls and two boys.

In 1967 she and her husband migrated to the United States, and their children later joined them. They all attended Northside Seventh-Day-Adventist Church, where Edna was a deaconess and choir member. She later became member of the Decatur SDA Church.

She worked as a nursing assistant until retirement at an area hospital.

She enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, meticulous housekeeping, singing and dancing. She had a very sharp memory and enjoyed recalling hymns, scriptures, the phone numbers of friends and many other everyday things. She loved her family!

She is survived by her children: Annette(Edgar) Bennie, Leanora Ruff, Clyde(Hildred) Bartley, Amet Peart, Margaret(Garry) Pressley and Radcliffe Bartley, siblings: Linford Thompson, Muriel Thompson, Calvin Thompson, Roy Thompson, Osmond Thompson and Herbert Thompson, Neville Thompson;  a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and cherished friends.

She was preceded in death by her sisters Francella, Doris, Merline and Pearl, and brothers Dudley, Edgar, Ivan and Dennis.
