Donald Lee Obituary

Donald R Lee was born in Calhoun Falls, Abbeville County, SC. He is the first born to his parents. Donald's elementary school years were spent in Calhoun Falls attending Ellison Elementary.

His parents moved the family to Philly and he completed his undergraduate studies there. Upon graduation Donald attended (the 1st in his family) and graduated in 1973 from The University of Indiana with a degree in Criminal Justice. While working towards his degree he also became very active in ROTC, leaving college as a commissioned officer. He also pledged and became a member of Omega Psi Phi its Pi Mu Nu chapter.

With college checked off the goal list he parlayed his ROTC commission status and enlisted into the U. S. Army where he had a stellar, accomplished 22 year career before retiring with Captain ranking and a Masters Degree in Criminology.

Donald loved his family, they were the cornerstone of his life. There was another family that he was equally devoted to -- his beloved Omega Psi Phi fraternity-- his adopted family. Brother Don excelled here also and put his heart and soul into his Omega family. At the time of his transition he was on staff at the Omega Psi Phi International Headquarters. When you were in Don's presence you could visibly see who he was, what his passions were, and what was in his heart... he always had his Buffalo Soldiers hat on (he was proud to be a member), he always had on something purple and gold (always representing his Frat) and was always speaking about his family and friends. Uncle Don, as he is affectionately called by his family, established a standard of college as a path to success and it was his college attendance and leadership that many other family members chose the path to college.

Donald is survived by two daughters Jasmine Lee and Michelle Lamb; sisters Brenda Washington, Cynthia Postell, Patricia Martin, Vickie Lee, and Cheryl Buchanan; one brother, David Buchanan, and Ex Wife, the mother of Jasmine Lee. His transition leaves us brokenhearted and truly feeling the impact of his absence. His family thanks Omega Psi Phi for being ever present and available to Brother Don's family during this difficult time.  He would be happy to know your love for him, exemplified to his family, has come full circle.
