Denton Wadsworth McLeod, born on November 25, 1960, passed away peacefully on January 25, 2026, at the age of 65.
A beloved son, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, Denton lived a vibrant and unforgettable life rooted in love, laughter, and music.
Originally from Jamaica, Denton made Atlanta, Georgia his home for more than 30 years, enriching the lives of everyone who knew him with his humour, charm, and unmistakable presence. His journey through life was filled with creativity and passion, and he touched many hearts across Jamaica, the United States, and beyond.
Denton was a gifted stage actor, performing in numerous productions at the renowned Club-54 Holiday Inn and Half Moon Hotel in Jamaica, where his talent lit up the stage and left audiences captivated. He also served as a valued employee with the Jamaica Water Commission, where he earned his living to contribute to the care of his grandfather and other family members.
A man of many talents, Denton was widely known and loved as a popular DJ, affectionately called “Silk”—a name that reflected his smooth style, warm energy, and effortless ability to move a crowd. Whether performing in Jamaica or spinning tunes in New York, Silk’s music brought people together and created memories that will live on in the hearts of many.
Denton is deeply mourned by his mother, Dalia Whitehead; his sister, Carol McAnuff; his friend, Patricia Green; his daughters, Heather (Sherika) McLeod and Melissa McLeod; sons, O'Neil McLeod, Aaron McLeod, and Michael Grant; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; his ex-spouse, Sonia McLeod; his uncle, George Whitehead; cousin, George (Junior) Whitehead; nephews; and his many cousins in Canada, England, Jamaica and the United States. His family will forever cherish the love he gave, the laughter he inspired, and the joy he brought into our lives.
He lived boldly, “on the edge of life”—guided by his music, humor, brilliant smile, and unwavering dedication to the people he loved. Denton was strong in his faith and held firm to the Word of God, a foundation that carried him through life’s challenges and triumphs.
Though he is no longer here with us, the echoes of his laughter, the rhythm of his music, and the kindness of his heart will continue to resonate.
He will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered.
