Daphne Daniels Obituary

Mrs. Daphne Emelda Daniels entered into rest on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at the Piedmont Rockdale Hospital in Conyers, GA. She was born in Georgetown, Guyana on December 25, 1944 as the third child of the late Hilton Gustavus Daniels and the late Beulah Victoria Handy.

As a child Daphne was known to be helpful and concerned about others. In Guyana, she attended Christianburg Church of Scotland School and the Ituni District School. Although Daphne was quiet, she was a beloved youth at the Wismar Seventh Day Adventist Church. In her early twenties she taught kindergarten in Ituni located in Demerara County Guyana.

In the late 1960’s, Daphne immigrated to the US to advance her education and attended the University of the District of Columbia where she studied psychology. Thereafter she attended and graduated from the Raidens College Nursing Program. While in nursing school, she met Ronald Daniels and within six months, they said their vows of love for life on a beautiful day in June at the Howard University Rankin Chapel. As their family had become complete with three beautiful children, the Daniels acquired a home located in NW Washington DC. This home placed the Daniels family in close proximity to the Takoma Park Seventh Day Adventist Church where the family attended, and Daphne served as a Deaconess for over 20 years. In 2006, Daphne recognized that Osei and Malene were self-sufficient. Without a thought, she found an adult learning program offered in Georgia and moved for the benefit of her middle child, Nneka Daniels. This move brought the unexpected blessings of finding a welcoming church home in Decatur GA called Mountainside Seventh Day Adventist Church which facilitated Nneka becoming a deaconess. This is also the church that brought the blessing of Daphne rededicating her life as her husband, Ronald gave his life to Christ. In Daphne fashion, she did not come to Georgia to retire; Daphne lovingly served KES DAY Inc. as a registered nurse and Mountainside SDA church as Head Deaconess until she was physically unable to serve.

Mrs. Daniels leaves behind her loving husband, Ronald Daniels, three children, Malene Daniels, Nneka Daniels, Osei Daniels and daughter-in love, Antone Daniels. She also leaves behind her sister Constance David and brothers Joseph Daniels and Michael Daniels. On Daphne’s side of the family, she leaves behind nieces and nephews, Andre, Marlon, Gregory, Mark, Dion, Dexter, Sheldon, Shellon, Michelle, Brandon, Kristi Jo, Mortimer and Shannon who is also her beloved, God-daughter. On Daphne’s husband side of the family, she leaves behind nieces and nephews, Michelle, Naren, Luxley, Vanessa, Kenneth, Maleika, Sebastian, Eddie Jr., Marcel, Dionne of London, Devian, Dionne “Big D”, Selome, Wycliffe, Devon, Marlon, Sylvanne, Dionne “Little D”, Judith, Mairead and Maeve. Christmas will not be the same as many cousins, extended family and friends will miss starting the day to wish Daphne a happy birthday.
