Clement George “Asher Dread” Leach was born December 17, 1956 to the late Harold and Wilhelmina Leach in Kingston, Jamaica. Danny, as he was affectionately called, is the youngest of eight children. He graduated from Penwood High School where he was one of the “star ballers” on his team. He became well known within his community, Duhaney Park, while playing on the minor and major league for the community. At the age of 25, Danny welcomed his first child, Sasha into the world. On June 27, while sitting on the couch with his girlfriend, Angella, she screamed, “Danny, mi a have baby!” Danny utilized his skill of speed and ran a mile to inform the midwife, Nurse Palmer, and aided her in delivering his daughter. He migrated to Atlanta, GA in June of 1989 with his daughter, Sasha, to be with his parents; brothers, Lloyd and Errol; and nephew, Mark. Danny worked in hospitality while living in Georgia. He later moved to New York where he worked in social services, managing multiple group homes with his lady friend, Jackie. In his spare time, Danny enjoyed cooking, listening to his childhood friend, Dennis Brown, and watching sports. Leon, one of his nephews, favorite time while living in New York with Danny was waking up on a Sunday morning to breakfast and watching football with his uncle. Everyone knew Danny for always being hospitable. He was definitely full of life and saw the good in people. Danny was very much a family man. He would call each of his siblings and check on them weekly. He eventually moved back to Atlanta in 2019 to help care for his ailing mother. This was something dear to his heart because he had a very deep love for his mom. On November 3, 2020 the Leach family lost their Matriarch, “Tillah”. This was painful for Danny because he was one of the main caregivers for his mom the last year of her life. Putting his own health on the backburner to be present and helpful to the family is just a testament to his character. On December 17, 2020 as the family sang “Happy Birthday” he dropped a tear from his eye. He was a courageous fighter to the end. At 3:35 am Asher Dread closed his eyes and is finally resting until his Savior returns.
