Clara Ionie (Pemberton) Solomon

Clara Ionie Solomon (née Pemberton) was born on February 9, 1951, in Mount Lily, Nevis, West
Indies. From an early age, she developed a deep faith in God, a love for people, and a servant's
heart that would define her life's journey.

Over the years, Clara lived in St. Kitts and Nevis, the British Virgin Islands, and the United
States. Wherever she lived, she became known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering
willingness to help others. Whether family, friend, neighbor, church member, or stranger, she
never hesitated to offer encouragement, prayer, practical assistance, or a listening ear. Her life
was marked by compassion, loyalty, humility, and a genuine concern for the well-being of others.

A devoted Christian, Clara faithfully served both her church and community in many capacities,
including teacher, choir director, organist, deaconess, hotelier, caregiver, and Community
Services Director. She had a special gift for nurturing and teaching children, often investing time
and patience in those whom others had overlooked or forgotten. Through her teaching,
mentoring, and example, she left a lasting impression on countless young lives.

Clara's faith was not merely something she professed; it was something she lived every day.
Whether caring for family members, supporting friends, ministering to church members, or
helping complete strangers, she reflected Christ's love through acts of service, compassion, and
sacrifice. Many were blessed by her prayers, her wisdom, and her willingness to give of herself
without expecting anything in return. Through her words, actions, and example, she touched
countless lives and inspired others to walk more closely with God.

Clara treasured her family. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife of 47 years, mother,
grandmother, aunt, cousin, niece, and friend. Her loyalty, love, and steadfast support created
bonds that stretched across the Caribbean, North America, Africa, and Europe and will continue
for generations. She poured herself into the lives of those she loved and leaves behind a legacy of
faith, service, sacrifice, and unconditional love.

One of Clara's greatest joys was helping others in practical ways. She regularly organized and
sent barrels of clothing, school supplies, household items, and other necessities to families
throughout the Caribbean. She hosted prayer lines, participated in Bible studies, supported
Vacation Bible Schools, tutored both children and adults, helped individuals learn to read, and
encouraged others in developing skills and small businesses to better support their families. Long
before it had a formal name, Clara was living the mission that would later inspire Jar & Leaf
Ministries. Her life demonstrated that faith is most powerful when it is expressed through
service, compassion, and a willingness to help others succeed.

Clara has gone to her rest. Though she will be deeply missed, her influence lives on in the many
lives she touched, the faith she shared, the values she instilled, the children she taught, and the
countless people she helped along the way. Her family rejoices in the blessed hope of the
resurrection and looks forward to the day when they will see her again.
