Cecilia (Celia) Belfon passed away on December 23, 2023, after a long battle with dementia. Her final moments were spent peacefully at home in Lawrenceville, Georgia, surrounded by family and loved ones.
Celia was born in Grenada, WI, but she called Trinidad her home. Celia immigrated to Brooklyn, New York and would later move her family to Queens, NY. She spent her professional life as a nurse at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center until her skillfully planned early retirement and move to Palm Coast, Florida. She loved her independent life and home in Palm Coast, but eight years ago her dementia diagnosis required her to move in with her daughter, Salene, in Lawrenceville, Georgia.
Celia was a very generous person and would help anyone in need. Known for her tenacity, savvy real estate decisions, and no-nonsense communication, Celia also used her talent and generosity to sponsor the immigration of many family members to the US. Her family will be forever grateful for her priceless contribution.
Celia is survived by her son and his wife, Sherwin & Nicola Williams; daughter and her husband, Salene and David Charlton Jr.; grandchildren, Sadiyah and Dominick Charlton; daughter from another mother, Bernadette Baptiste; and her cousin (sister cousin), Vilma Gomez, who helped care for her in her final days. She leaves nieces and nephews and numerous cousins in the US, Trinidad and Grenada.
Celia will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
