Bekele Wolde Gariyo

Bekele Wolde Gariyo, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and pillar of his community, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025, at the age of 84. His life was a radiant testament to optimism, generosity, and unwavering dedication to uplifting others.  

Born in Woliso, Ethiopia, to Mulatwa Gebrehiwot and Wolde Gariyo, Bekele embodied boundless curiosity and an indomitable spirit. A lifelong learner, he embraced diverse fields—from philosophy and politics to extraterrestrial phenomena and faith—and shared his insights generously, sparking inspiration in countless lives. His positivity and can-do attitude transformed challenges into opportunities, leaving an enduring mark on all who knew him.  

For 55 years, Bekele was the devoted husband of Hirut Ayele, their partnership a beacon of love and resilience. As a father, he nurtured his children—Solomon, Lensie, Beshadu, Kiya, and Bezawit—with compassion, instilling in them the values of hard work, empathy, and service. His guidance extended beyond his family, as he became a father figure to many, offering wisdom and steadfast encouragement.  

Bekele’s professional legacy shone brightly during his 25-year career at Ethiopian Airlines, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership in managerial roles. Yet his true calling lay in social justice. Driven by a profound belief in human dignity, he founded OSRA and Wasasa Micro Finance, institutions dedicated to empowering Ethiopia’s marginalized communities. His tireless advocacy for the vulnerable reflected his conviction that every life holds immeasurable worth.  

Bekele will be remembered for his infectious optimism, unwavering faith in humanity, and relentless pursuit of a better world. His legacy of love, kindness, and service will continue to inspire generations.  

He is survived by his beloved wife, Hirut Ayele; his 5 children; his adored 15 grandchildren; and a vast extended family of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will cherish his memory.

A celebration of Bekele’s life will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Burial: 1:00 PM at Gwinnett Memorial Park

እጅግ መልካም ባል፣ አባት፣ አያት እና የማህበረሰቡ ምሰሶ የሆነው በቀለ ወልደ ጋሪዮ በ84 አመቱ የካቲት 15 ቀን 2025 በሰላም ከዚህ አለም በሞት ተለይቷል። ህይወቱ ብሩህ ተስፋን፣ ልግስናንና መሰጠትን እንዲሁም ሌሎችን ለማንሳት ያለ ቁርጠኝነትን የሚያሳይ ነበር።

ከአባቱ ከአቶ ወልዴ ጋሪዮና ከእናቱ ከሙላትዋ ገብረህይወት በወሊሶ ኢትዮጵያ የተወለደው በቀለ ወልዴ ወሰን የለሽ የእውቀት ጉጉትን እና የማይበገር መንፈስን የታደለ ነበር። በዘመኑ ሁሉ ከአዳዲስ እወቀት ያለማቋረጥ የሚማር፣ ከፍልስፍና እና ከፖለቲካ እስከ ምድራዊ ክስተቶችን እና እምነቶችን የሚመረምር- በተለያዩ መስኮች አስተያየቱን በልግስና የሚያካፍል፣ ስፍር ቁጥር በሌላቸው ህይወቶች ውስጥ በመነሳሳት መልካም ተፅእኖ ፈጣሪ ነበር። የእሱ አዎንታዊነት እና ማድረግ የሚችል አመለካከቱ ተግዳሮቶችን ወደ እድሎች በመቀየር በሚያውቁት ሁሉ ላይ ዘላቂ ምልክት ጥሏል።

ለ 55 ዓመታት በቀለ የሂሩት አየለ የተሰጠ ባል ነበር ፣ አጋርነታቸው የፍቅር እና የፅናት ብርሃን ነው። እንደ መልካም አባት ልጆቹን ሰሎሞንን፣ ሌንሴን፣ በሻዱን፣ ኪያን እና ቤዛዊትን በርህራሄ፣ በትጋትና በመተሳሰብ  እሴቶችን አሳድጓቸዋል። ለብዙዎች አባት በመሆን ጥበብን እና ጽኑ ማበረታቻን በመስጠት ተምሳሌነቱ ከቤተሰቡ አልፏል።

በኢትዮጲያ አየር መንገድ በቆየባቸው 25 አመታት ውስጥ የአቶ በቀለ ሙያዊ ትሩፋት የደመቀ ሲሆን በአመራር ሚናውም ልዩ አስተዋፆ አድርጓል። ሆኖም እውነተኛ ጥሪው በማህበራዊ ፍትህ ላይ ነው። በሰብአዊ ክብር ላይ ባለው ጥልቅ እምነት ተገፋፍቶ፣ በኢትዮጵያ የተጎዱ ማህበረሰቦችን ለማጎልበት ኦስራ እና ወሳሳ ማይክሮ ፋይናንስ ተቋማትን አቋቁሟል። ደከመኝ ሰለቸኝ ሳይል ለአቅመ ደካሞች መሟገቱ እያንዳንዱ ህይወት የማይለካ ዋጋ እንዳለው ያለውን እምነት አንጸባርቋል።

በቀለ ተላላፊ በሆነው አዎንታዊ አመለካከቱ እንዲሁም በሰብአዊነት የማይናወጥ እምነቱና ያለ እረፍት የተሻለ አለምን በመሻቱ ይታወሳል ። የፍቅር፣ የደግነት እና የአገልግሎት ትሩፋቱ ትውልድን ማነሳሳቱን ይቀጥላል።

ከውድ ባለቤቱ ወይዘሮ ሂሩት አየለ በሞት የተለየው በቀለ የ 5 ልጆችና የ 15 የልጅ ልጆች እንዲሁም የእሱን ትውስታ የሚያከብሩ በርካታ ዘመዶችና ሰፊ ቤተሰብ ያለው ነው።
