Mr. Anthony Willoughby was born on May 25, 1973 in Detroit, Michigan, the first-born son of Margaret Williams and Tony Willoughby. He quietly departed this life Saturday, May 23, 2020 in Atlanta, Georgia, at the age of 46. Anthony, often referred to as “Ant”, was educated in the Athens Clarke County School District. He worked as an equipment operator at Lion’s Den Construction Inc. for 10 years, alongside his brother and best friend, Ken Whitehead. “Ant” was a devoted father and loving family man who enjoyed traveling, watching Dolomite, and adventures of all kind.
“Ant” was a gentle giant, one that would give you the shirt off his back without second guessing. He touched the lives of those in which he came in contact, including those close to him and even strangers. If ever he had a fault, it was his inability to tell ones in need “no” causing him to sacrifice his own needs. “Ant” could often be found volunteering and helping the elderly. He was quick witted with a comedic demeanor and could often be heard joking and joning with the best of them. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
“Ant” is survived by his son, Chauncey Willoughby; fiancé, Rassallah Sonson; mother, Margaret Williams; stepfather, Willie Williams; sister, Sonya Maxey; brother, Mike; nephews, Trevon Maxey and Darius Maxey; godson, Kenderius Whitehead; best friends who were more like brothers, Ken Whitehead, Hampton Moore, Ralph Whitehead, Nick Guest, Troy Ware; his son’s mother and dear friend, Kimberly Hunter; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The words of Anthony “Ant” Willoughby:
Don’t mourn for me, for my soul and I have shone bright in the lifetime of our existence. Always, remember all the times I made you laugh or smile.
