Our beloved mother Angelie Lorraine Halcond entered into eternal rest on May 10 th at the age of
71 years old. Angelie was born on June 5th , 1951 to Silas Nelson and Dorothy (Nelson) Gregory
in Charleston, SC.
Angelie attended Stephen Decatur Junior High School in Brooklyn, NY and Franklin K. Lane
High School in Queens, New York. She became a notable track star who trained under a well
known track coach Freddie Thompson who formed The Colgate Womens Track and Field event
which was a national televised event.
After high school Angelie began her career as an orderly for Kingsboro Psychiatric Center in
Brooklyn, NY for several years and later became a Nursing Assistant.
In 1971, she met the love of her life, Stanley Halcond, they married in 1975 and going on to have
three beautiful children, Kevin, Nicole and Joy. After the birth of her second child she decided to
dedicate her life to being and outstanding mother. Angelie was nurturing, caring and a very
protective mother who instilled morals, values and principles in her children. She was
instrumental in teaching her children life lessons and the importance of developing a close
relationship with God. She created a childhood environment that involved simplicity, joy,
happiness and fulfillment.
Angelie was a women of many layers. Her Christianity is what shaped her after suffering the
losses of her older sister and husband. She clinged to her faith and became an Evangelist and
encouraged the teachings of overcoming life’s pitfalls and always keeping your spirituality as
prominence.
Angelie was a seamstress who had a love for sewing that was introduced to her by her mother
who custom made her own clothing which was sold in stores. In her later years she took an
interest in Cosmetology and became a licensed Cosmetologist for many years.
Angelie was predeceased by her father Silas, her husband, Stanley and siblings, Chandra and
Silas. She is survived by her mother, Dorothy and her last remaining sibling Clayton, her
children Kevin, Nicole and Joy as well as many grandchildren nieces, nephews, relatives and
close friends.
