Celebrating the Life of William Rufus Johnson II

William "Bill" Johnson, aged 83, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away on November 30, 2025 in Powder Springs, Georgia, after a courageous and long-fought battle with cancer.  Born on October 22, 1942, in Warrenton, Georgia, William was the son of the late William Johnson and Mary Lee Ranger. A man of immense intelligence and masterful storyteller. He could reach back decades to recount past memories with vivid detail, keeping the history of his hometown and his family alive for the next generation. He was a pillar of strength to everyone who knew him.

Service & Dedication A proud veteran of the Vietnam War, William served his country with distinction, earning the National Defense Service Medal for his expert marksmanship. Upon returning home, he dedicated over 30 years to his community as an admired football and baseball coach, mentoring countless young athletes with his wisdom and grit.

Passions & Family William was a master of all trades; there was nothing he couldn't fix. An avid hunter and animal lover, he found peace in nature. He is survived by his five children: • Kimberly Enoch • Natasha Bryant • Tina Johnson • William Johnson Ill • Rasheta Wright (Derrick) • 8 beloved grandchildren

William was the last surviving sibling of his generation, having been preceded in death by his three younger brothers: Robert Johnson, Ronnie Moss, and Eugene Moss.

His legacy of strength lives on through his five children.

William also known as Coach Bill will be remembered for his unwavering strength, his brilliant mind, and the legacy of excellence he left on the field and in life.
