Veronica
McKenzie
Sep 9, 1961 — Sep 8, 2026
Sav La Mar Westmoreland Jamaica
Veronica Virginia McKenzie was affectionately known by many names — Threadie, Mopie,
Vee, Mummy, Grandma, Sis. Mack, and Sis. McKenzie. Each name represented a different
relationship, but all spoke of a woman whose life touched the lives of those around her.
Veronica was a mother, grandmother, sister, mentor, giver, fighter, and woman of faith. She
believed in standing firmly for what she believed was right. She taught her children to stand on
their own, speak up for themselves, recognize their worth, and never let anyone make them feel
less important.
Family was central to Veronica’s life. Even when she did not have much herself, she was willing
to share what she had. She cared for her mother and opened her home and heart to her younger
brothers. She believed giving should not always come with the expectation of receiving
something in return, but with faith that God would provide.
She encouraged those around her to be bold, observant, and prepared for life. Her lessons
were practical and memorable: learn how to read a room, look both inside and outside the box,
speak up, and never be afraid to present yourself with confidence.
Veronica valued education and continued learning throughout her life. She earned a bachelor’s
degree later in life and continued pursuing knowledge, completing an English-related certificate
course shortly before her passing.
She also believed in God and was willing to share the Word of God with others. Her faith
remained an important part of who she was.
Her life cannot be measured simply by the years between her birth and her passing. It shows in
the children she raised, the grandchildren she loved, the family members she supported, the
people she encouraged, and the lessons that will continue to be passed from one generation to
another.
Her voice, strength, personality, teachings, and love will remain with her family.
Her life was a story.
Her family is her legacy.
Her memory will live on.
