James Nathanael Caughman Jr., 69, of Lithonia Georgia, passed away on November 5, 2022 after a brief illness at Emory Decatur hospital.

James was born on August 25, 1953 to James and Sallie Mae Caughman in Brooklyn, Ny. After graduating high school, James enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served his country honorably as a Hull technician for 3 years. After various jobs, he later began a career with the New York State correctional facility where he retired after 26 years of service.

James was predeceased by his father, James and mother, Sallie Mae Caughman. He is survived by his four children; Tara Porter, married to Gregory Williams; James Purvis, married to Judy Vaughn; Curtis Owens, married to Sarah Owens and Joshua Caughman, and 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Viewing service will be held at Plummer Funeral home on November 15, 2022 from 12 to 4PM. The burial service will be at Georgia National Cemetery on November 16, 2022 at 1 PM.
