Obituary

With profound sadness and unwavering faith, we celebrate the life of Earl Jerome Simmons Sr., who peacefully entered eternal rest on Friday, July 17, 2026, at the age of 58.

Born on August 13, 1967, in Selma, Alabama, to Patsy Ann Steele and William Simmons Jr., Earl lived a life marked by faith, service, laughter, and love. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, demonstrating the dedication and commitment that would remain a hallmark of his character throughout his life. Following his military service, Earl worked in the warehouse industry, where he was known as a dependable and hardworking individual.

Earl accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized and raised at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Selma, Alabama. Later in life, he became a faithful member of Restoration Church of Deliverance International Ministries in Snellville, Georgia, where he continued to grow in his walk with the Lord.

To know Earl was to know laughter. He had a remarkable gift for bringing joy into every room he entered. His warm smile, infectious sense of humor, and genuine love for people left lasting impressions on everyone he met. He was a loving yet firm father, a proud grandfather, a loyal friend, and a man whose faith and resilience inspired those around him.

He leaves to cherish his precious memory his children: Geniece Rogers, Earl Simmons Jr., Quell Carter, E'Lexis Mouzon (Bruce Mouzon Jr.), and La'Shell Moore.

He was the proud grandfather of Josalind Rogers, Kennedy Rogers, Armanni Simmons, Micah Stinson, Zion Murphy, Amora Simmons, Kaylyn Jones, Malachi Stinson, Ja'taylin Amir Carter, and Messiah Simmons, each of whom brought him immeasurable joy.

He is also survived by his beloved siblings, Mac Arthur Steele, Jesse Steele, and Mary McPherson; his special friend, Treslyn James; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, church family, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Although Earl has departed from this earthly life, his legacy of faith, love, strength, and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His life was a testament to God's grace, and his memory will continue to encourage and inspire generations to come.

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." — 2 Timothy 4:7 (KJV)
