Denise L.
Brown
Feb 27, 1954 — Jan 15, 2024
Denise Linda Brown of Norcross went to be with her Lord on Monday morning January 15, 2024 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.
Denise was born February 27, 1954 in Manhattan to Luthan Mitchell and Rita Chavannes Mitchell. She graduated from James Monroe High School in the Bronx. She then graduated with a bachelor's degree from Nyack College in Nyack, New York. She finally graduated with a master's degree in education from Walden University. She served as an elementary school teacher in two Christian schools in Gwinnett County and many years in Gwinnett County at Anderson-Livsey Elementary School and Britt Elementary School. She was honored as Britt Elementary School Teacher of the Year for 2019. She retired from teaching in 2020 at the onset of the COVID pandemic.
Denise gave her life to Christ on December 16, 1970. Sher married her husband, David, on November 22, 1980 in Brooklyn, New York. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was very active and grew in her faith more and more over the years in her churches in New York City and Atlanta. She sang in the choir, worship team, and was a greeter at several churches, and was a community group co-leader with her husband, David, at Gospel Hope. Because of her extended illness, Denise was last able to attend church at Gospel Hope on May 21, 2023. When she entered the presence of God, she was given a new body that doesn't have leukemia, heart failure, lung problems, or kidney problems.
Denise is survived by her husband of forty-three years, David; her son, Ian; her daughter, Avivah; her daughter-in-law, Karla; her son-in-law, Chris; six grandchildren (Josiah, Isaiah, Ian ("Little Ian"), Lilly, Luthan, and Maverick), and innumerable friends. She will be missed tremendously by all who met her just once.
Denise's family is grateful for and appreciative of the phone calls, texts, visits, meals, gifts, and prayers during this difficult time.
